Another Ozumo?
Eagle-eyed downtowners may have noticed a liquor license on the landmark Cathedral Building, which is now undergoing restoration and renovation. The Feb. 28 liquor license notice, which is clearly marked 1615 Broadway (the building’s address), says the applicant is Ozumo, which is also opening a restaurant at the Broadway grand project six blocks away. The Cathedral’s large basement has been floated as a restaurant or lounge location for some time. It appears that Ozumo, perhaps in another guise, will join Van Kleef as an Uptown nightspot. Rumor has it that the Cathedral’s developer is also in negotiations with a restaurant for the building he own further up Telegraph.

More info about Flora
The SF Chronicle’s food news roundup yesterday had some information about downtown’s forthcoming restaurant / lounge Flora, owned by the partners behind Dona Tomas. Also on the docket, a wood-oven restaurant on upper Grand. Look for Flora, in the glamorous Floral Depot building (across from the Fox on Telegraph and 19th), in late summer.

SF Invades Oaktown!
The San Francisco Business Times reported that several SF-based restaurants are moving to Oakland. The Chronicle and the EBX blog also wrote about these restaurant openings. So, the scoop:
Levende Lounge from SF’s Mission District is creating Levende East at the corner of 9th and Washington (formerly The Rex).
Ozumo is in late negotiations with Signature to be in the massive Broadway Grand condo complex, at Broadway and Grand (across from Luka’s. Formerly Hertz Rent-a-Car, I believe).
The articles also note that Rockridge is gaining two SF-based restaurants, including Wood House (formerly Grasshopper) and Somerset (formerly a Chinese restaurant). Rumored in-the-works deals downtown include an expanded location for Tamarindo and a second location for Jack London Square’s Soizic.
